About Us
I first started Ponderosa Texas in 2013, selling vintage items on Etsy and in a local antique store. In 2016-’17, Danny & I designed and built our own home with a local contractor, incorporating antique pieces and creative solutions into the build to create a collected and cozy space. We were budget conscious during the process and quickly learned that creativity can trump cash when the creative solution turns out better than the expensive alternative. Like using rebar for a railing instead having a sub weld one for a minimum of eight thousand dollars! This experience helped mold our understanding of the building process and solidified our love for construction and design. In 2018, we began taking side projects helping friends and new clients redecorate and remodel their homes.
Soon after, we rebranded to Casa de Ponderosa, incorporating “house” into the brand name, while keeping the original feel of the Ponderosa logo. While we both have full time jobs that keep us very busy, we try to take on a few projects each year on the side to keep our skills sharp! Maybe we will start flipping houses in retirement?! A girl can dream…
Right now, you can follow us on Instagram, as we are gutting and renovating a 1940s Craftsman, one project at a time and one weekend at a time! @casadeponderosa
